Rocky soon had every one of us falling in love with China, it's food, it's history, the textiles, the silk, the gardens, the shopping, the culture, the people, each city and town but not the rice wine!
There were many 'Must See' landmarks on our list, including the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City, The Great Wall, The Bund, Yu Gardens and The Silk Museum.
Group Photos of all of the ladies on Experience China 2014 with the Embroidery Master and her fellow Embroidery Teachers. This day was a real highlight of the trip.
This is the street we came to love across the road from our hotel in Hangzhou, the Shangri La Hangzhou. Magnificent West Lake on one side and our five star hotel on the other. Great little souvenir stores, snack shops, and even a Starbucks for the coffee lovers!
These famous soup dumplings were truly delicious. Food in China is always an adventure and this lunch was worth journalling about!
Wuzhen is an ancient water town with beautiful old houses, courtyards and bridges with a canal full of old boats. It's where blue and white printed fabrics originated in China.
We took the very fast train (travelling at more than 300km per hour) from Shanghai to Beijing. It gave us five hours of stitching, chatting and laughing time!
I love this photo of Meg taking some tips from a Chinese Embroiderer. We had such a wonderful time with one of the most famous Chinese Embroidery Masters and her teachers that came with her. It was wonderful to see the incredible hand embroidery that these ladies create for a living and listening to their stories.
A real highlight of Beijing was a day at The Great Wall. Some of us even did a little stitching on The Great Wall for fun!
